Custom Picture Framing for Taringa & Toowong
Framehouse is a bespoke picture framing studio in Brookfield, 18–22 minutes from Taringa and Toowong. We work by appointment only, take two weeks per job, and apply conservation-grade materials (alpha-cellulose matboard, UV-filtering glass, acid-free backing) to everything that passes through the studio. If you’ve been making do with what’s available locally, this is worth the drive.
Craft & Process
The inner-west has galleries, design studios, art-aware residents — and framing shops you could walk into closer to home. Framehouse is a different proposition. We're a twenty-minute drive from Taringa and Toowong, and the drive is part of the appeal: a short trip out of the city into a rural setting, with ample parking, the sound of birds, and a creek flowing through the property among Brookfield's trees. If you'd welcome a slower pace — a considered conversation over a coffee or tea, away from the busyness of shopping-centre activity — our studio is the ideal retreat. We'd suggest using Virtual Framer first: explore moulding and mat combinations online, get a preliminary quote, then bring the artwork in knowing roughly where the conversation will go. We work with everything from small watercolours and botanical prints to large-format oils and mixed media works. Conservation framing, oversized frames, multi-aperture mats for photograph collections, and restoration of older frames — all handled in the same studio, by the same framer. Our Brookfield workshop is set up with all the equipment needed to do the job properly — a Brevetti dual mitre saw, an Alfamacchine underpinner, a Fletcher 3100 substrate cutter and a Valiani Nexus Edge 150 computer mat cutter (CMC) for precise, intricate matwork. If you’re unsure what your artwork needs, bring it in. The consultation is the best part of the process, especially over a relaxing coffee or tea!
There’s a quiet advantage to a boutique, home-based studio: our framing is competitively priced. Without a shopping-centre lease, a shopfront to staff, or a retail precinct’s overheads to recover, your quote reflects the work and the materials themselves — not the rent. Gallery-standard framing, without the gallery-precinct mark-up.
Taringa & Toowong households tend to have more than one certificate worth framing. A PhD in the study, a medical fellowship in the hallway, a trade certificate, or a Year 12 award the kids have already forgotten about. Framehouse frames academic and professional credentials with conservation-grade materials — so the things that took the longest to earn are the ones best protected.
Book a consultation online or call us to discuss your piece before making the drive. We’ll tell you honestly whether what you have needs a studio visit or whether Virtual Framer can get you to a quote from your kitchen table.
Worth the drive. Worth the wait. Worth it on the wall.
